Kardzhali is also proud of its singing clock tower, the only one working in Southern Bulgaria.The Day of Kardzhali is on 21st October. On this date in 1912 Kardzhali has joined with the territory of Bulgaria (till then it has been in the bounds of the Ottoman Empire). The town is joined in twelve o’clock and by this reasons the clock sounds “Great is our soldier” before it strikes twelve times. The town clock is unique in Bulgaria because it sounds Bulgarian revolutionary songs at each full hour.
