It is located in the old town and close to the Kradzhali mosque and the market. The gallery is a separate 2-storey
building constructed in the middle of the 20th century for a Turkish konak and used by the army, police and public administration. At one point the building hosted the Historical Museum too. This is one of the oldest cultural institutes in the city. It disposes of a rich collection or older and contemporary Bulgarian artists. In the ground floor of the gallery (the crypt) are displayed many icons and prints from the Revival period. The building was designated as a monument of culture and up to now preserves its authentic appearance.
