The cave is located in limestone, it has 3 levels and depth of around 320m. The few entrances are interconnected. The cave is the home of many bats’ species and the spider Centromerus milleri. Pottery fragments were found inside the cave revealing it has been inhabited since ancient times. There are two ways to reach the cave. One is on the way down from “Monyak” fortress in direction the old road to Kardzhali. The other is easier passing through Shiroko pole village. There is an indication sign “To Karangila cave” around 300m from the last houses of
the village. A path follows for 1.5km to the cave.
