Many people search healing from “ the crying rock” at night before St. George’s Day.On the 5th before 6th of May thousands climb on the top Dambala by Momchilgrad. Every year Muslims and Christians not only from Bulgaria, but also from Creece , Turkey , Romania and Macedonia come here to search healing for their pains. They believe that the oozy water from the rocks gets medicinal exactly before Muslim Ederlez or for the Christians St.George’s Day. The place is situated about 6 km from Momchilgrad. According to the legend, the curative quality of the water on the top has a strong effect exactly at midnight before St. George ‘ Day.
According to the belief, the Oak Forest of Dambala rustles especially of Ederlez. In this the native Alevi Muslims (partisans of the Caliph Ali) know that is come the keeping a holiday by them.
On the peak is the rock with two medicinal springs. One of them cures speech impediments of kids and the other - different diseases among them are the eyes’ diseases.
And this year dozens of people spent the night on the peak. They pitched the tents and made fires.
Exactly at midnight everybody gathered around the pool. The parents submerged their kids in the cold water in order to they be cured. The kids cried and the people pushed. The journalists with their cameras tried to take unique videos and photos. The wet kids quickly wrapped with blankets. The kids’ dress hung on the branch of the trees.
Belief reads that in this way the disease will remain on the peak Dambala, and the child will go downhill get well.
This is the only place in the vicinity where there is an Oak Forest. The rest of forest is from the coniferous trees. About 5th May the wind blows unusually. The adults say that they understand the Hadarlez is come at the wind and not at the calendar. The arrived people from the interior and abroad fill with the medical water their utensils and carry at home.
All time the atmosphere is mysterious attendant as if mystic ritual.
